QUALITY FEATURES & CARE
AJ’s Furniture appreciates your patronage and it is our desire to produce beautiful solid wood furniture that will stand the test of time and be enjoyed by generations to come. Starting with quality hardwoods, our frames feature the long lasting durability of mortise and tenon construction and attention to detail. Wood’s natural beauty and uniqueness is evident in each piece of furniture we craft. It is also wood’s natural tendency to adapt to climatic and seasonal changes as found in your home. Most hardwoods have an open-grain character and even after finishing with today’s state-of-the-art finishes, wood will expand and contract as the wood grain adjusts to fluctuations in humidity levels. These seasonal effects may be evidenced by joints or grain that may open and close slightly over time, this occurrence is natural and to be expected. To properly care for your solid wood furniture, it is best to maintain a constant relative humidity in your home. A humidity level in the range of 30-45% is desired to properly maintain wood furniture. It is advisable to avoid placing furniture in an area where the sun will shine directly on it. Also, it is wise to keep furniture away from direct sources of heating and cooling. Note that ultraviolet light from the sun and florescent fixtures can cause chemical changes in wood and/or finish. Ask your dealer to recommend finish-friendly cleaners and polishes. With proper care you’ll enjoy your new furniture for many years to come.
CONSTRUCTION
Quality is intentional (we say that a lot, because it couldn't be more true). Furniture is only as durable as it is built to be. At AJ's Furniture, we aim for a product that lasts longer than just your lifetime. That's why we use age-old techniques that are proven to withstand the test of time.
- Mortise and tenon
- Doweling
- Mitering
- Dovetails
- Tongue in groove
- Frames glued and screwed
- Floating construction where drawer bottoms are not glued, but instead move freely as humidity changes.
With AJ's Furniture, you don't have to question your furniture purchase. There's no disposable furniture here. Just long-lasting, superior construction and design - the way it should be.
